How to use a blood glucose meter

The use of blood glucose meter should first be checked and calibrated, note that the model of test strips and the model of blood glucose meter should be consistent to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results of the blood glucose meter. Then use it according to the following steps. 1. Disinfect the blood collection site with 75% ethanol, and do not choose other disinfectants that have interfering effects on the test, e.g. iodophor. 2. Wait for the ethanol to dry before blood collection. 3. After puncturing the skin with the blood collection needle, gently press the blood to flow out naturally, wipe off the first drop with a sterilized cotton ball, and then put the second drop of blood into the designated area on the test strip. Do not squeeze too hard after skin puncture to avoid tissue fluid mixing with the blood sample and causing bias in the results. 4. Records of test results include the name of the test subject, test date, time, result, unit, and signature of the test subject. When abnormal blood glucose results occur, the causes should be analyzed in time, and treatment measures should be taken for different reasons, such as retesting and rechecking the venous biochemical blood glucose, etc., which can be done by consulting with professional physicians.
