It is not usually hereditary. Intrahepatic calcification is usually associated with chronic hepatitis disease and occurs equally in men and women, usually as a single calcified foci, more in the right than in the left liver. There are many causes of intrahepatic calcification, such as congenital development, and intrahepatic calcification foci are usually not hereditary.
