Cardiac remodeling in rats with chronic renal failure

  Abstract】Objective To observe the efficacy of cardiac remodeling and Renxin Ning Fang intervention in rats with chronic renal failure (CRF). Methods SD rats were modeled by 5/6 nephrectomy method, and given renal heart nourishing formula by gavage and its formula of benefiting Qi, nourishing Yin, warming Yang and invigorating Blood, and Monno as the control group. Blood BUN, Scr, Hb, RBC, blood uric acid, blood lipid, myocardial enzyme profile, plasma and myocardial Ang II, cardiac type I collagen, type III collagen, PCNA were detected to observe the morphological and ultrastructural changes of myocardium and to explore the interventional effects of drugs. The results showed that Renxin Ning Fang could reduce the weight of hypertrophied myocardium and inhibit myocardial remodeling to some extent, as shown by the reduction of cardiac weight index and relative index of left ventricle, the decrease of positive expression of myocardial collagen, and the decrease of PCNA positive cell number. Among the dismantled formulae, its efficacy in warming Yang and invigorating Blood was better than that in benefiting Qi and nourishing Yin dismantled formulae. Conclusion The renal heart nourishing formula has the efficacy of inhibiting and delaying cardiac remodeling; and the efficacy of the demolition formula corroborates that the etiological mechanism of CRF heart is based on Yang deficiency and blood stasis.
