What stage of bowel cancer is moderately differentiated

Differentiation does not belong to which stage in bowel cancer. Differentiation and staging are two different concepts, differentiation refers to the degree of differentiation of cancer cells, and staging is related to the invasion of bowel cancer to surrounding tissues, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis.

The degree of differentiation of bowel cancer is related to the degree of malignancy of cancer cells. High degree of differentiation means that the cancer cells are close to normal tissue cells, i.e., low degree of malignancy; low degree of differentiation means that the cancer cells are more different from normal differentiated cells, i.e., high degree of malignancy; moderate differentiation indicates that the cancer cells are of medium degree of malignancy.

TNM staging system is commonly used in staging bowel cancer, T1, T2 tumor invades the submucosa and muscular layer, T3 tumor invades the plasma membrane layer, T4 tumor invades the peripheral organs, N0 means the tumor has no lymph node metastasis, N1, N2 means the tumor has lymph node metastasis, M0 means the tumor has no distant metastasis, M1 means the tumor has distant metastasis.
