Stabbing pain below the left rib cage

There are many reasons why a patient may experience stabbing pain below the left rib cage. For example, if the patient has long-term chronic exertion or strain below the left rib cage, resulting in damage to the intercostal muscles or intercostal muscle neuritis, the stabbing pain may be accompanied by localized loss of skin sensation, affecting the patient’s movement. The patient’s ribs are more easily accessible under the skin and are also susceptible to rib fractures when subjected to direct external forces. When a patient has a left-sided rib fracture, the patient will also feel pins and needles pain in the injured area, and there will be localized swelling and significant abnormal activity, which can be diagnosed by taking x-rays. Most of the treatment is conservative, using rib fixation bands and topical ointments to activate blood circulation and reduce swelling and pain.
