Complications of gastric tube insertion mainly include the following two aspects: 1. Damaging infection, because the process of gastric tube insertion needs to pass through the pharynx, trachea, esophagus and other parts before reaching the patient’s stomach. In the process of insertion, if there is any deviation in the position or improper operation, it will cause damage to the superficial mucosa or internal tissues of the above organs, which will be easily infected by pathogenic bacteria. 2. Hypoxic organ damage, during the insertion of the gastric tube, the airway will be violently contracted and spasmed due to external stimulation, resulting in different degrees of obstruction of the patient’s ventilation function, and in serious cases, hypoxic organ damage will occur. In severe cases, hypoxic organ damage may occur. Therefore, before receiving gastric tube insertion treatment, local or general anesthesia is required in addition to the need to maintain a calm state of mind and avoid excessive stress.
