What medication works for cataracts

Currently, there are no oral medications that are effective in treating cataracts. Topical eye drops may slow down the development of cataracts, but the therapeutic effect is limited. In clinical practice, surgery is the main treatment for cataract, such as cataract ultrasonic emulsification combined with IOL implantation, etc., which mainly improves the patient’s vision by removing the cloudy lens and then implanting a transparent IOL. However, there is currently no effective oral medication that can treat cataracts, restore clouding lens transparency and improve patients’ vision. Early cataracts have less impact on the patient’s vision, and the patient may consider clinical observation or use medication to prevent cataract development as prescribed by the doctor, such as amiodarone eye drops. Patients with cataracts are advised to seek prompt medical attention to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
