Commonly used non-surgical treatments: 1. Intra-scar injection of steroid hormone is suitable for small and medium-sized hyperplastic scars and post-surgical strip growths. Generally, it is injected once every 20 days, three times a course; however, too many injections or improper levels may produce some side effects such as pigment loss of the adjacent surrounding skin and tissue atrophy.
2.Cryotherapy For some small hyperplastic scars where the effect of hormone injection is not satisfactory, cryotherapy can be used together with intra-scar injection.
3.Radiotherapy Cobalt 60 can be used for local irradiation, which is more effective for newly emerged hyperplastic scars and keloids and can flatten them and make the new blood vessels disappear.
4.Local medication Topical medication such as Conrad, Centurion cream, Shuk, and Scarke can be used. Usually, the treatment should be adhered to for at least half a year to have more obvious effect.
5.Compression therapy Using elastic bandage or elastic mesh to compress the scar area continuously for a long time is effective in preventing and treating hyperplastic keloid scars.
The treatment of hyperplastic scar is a systematic project, and different patients may need to adopt different treatment methods or multiple methods of integrated treatment. Patients must cooperate closely with doctors and adhere to certain cycles of treatment to achieve better results.
