Is a young person with a herniated disc an invalid?

A herniated lumbar disc in a young person does not necessarily have to have serious consequences. Depending on the degree of the condition, different treatments can be taken and the herniated disc can be relieved or even cured. Herniated lumbar discs are mainly treated by conservative methods. First of all, the patient can sleep on a hard bed, wear a lumbar protector during activities, and carry out physiotherapy, acupuncture, traction, massage and other means of treatment for the lumbar area, and take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs according to medical advice when the pain is severe. If the herniated disc compresses the nerves and causes pain and numbness in the buttocks, back of the thigh, calf and back of the foot, or even walking disorders, surgical treatment such as intervertebral foraminoscopy is required. A herniated lumbar disc should not be overworked, or be sedentary or standing for a long time, and pay attention to the warmth of the lumbar area to avoid cold and moisture.
