Lung tonifying and blood activating capsule is for treating the symptoms of qi deficiency and blood stasis during the remission stage of pulmonary heart disease, and generally not for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is composed of Astragalus, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori, which has the functions of benefiting qi and activating blood (tonifying qi and blood to make the body full of qi and blood, and the blood veins unimpeded), tonifying the lung and fixing the kidneys. This product can be used in the treatment of pulmonary heart disease (in remission) belonging to the evidence of qi deficiency and blood stasis, mainly manifested as coughing and shortness of breath, or coughing and chest tightness, palpitation (heartbeat accelerated, often accompanied by panic), shortness of breath, cold limbs and fatigue, lumbar and knee soreness (lumbar and knee soreness and weakness), cyanosis (the color of the lips and mouth area is purplish black), light tongue with white moss, or purplish tongue, and so on. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) belongs to the asthma syndrome, which can be divided into different types such as phlegm-heat-depleted-lung syndrome, phlegm-dampness-resistant-lung syndrome, and liver-qi multiplying the lungs syndrome, etc., and need to be treated by using different traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) such as Sangbai Pi Tang, Ercheng Pingtuosan (二陈平胃散) combined with Sanzi Nourishing Relative Soup (三子养亲汤) and Wumo Drinking Tonic. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are advised to take traditional Chinese medicine under the guidance of a TCM practitioner to avoid unauthorized use of medication, which may lead to a delay in the treatment of the disease.
