The cervix belongs to the uterus and is part of the uterus. For example, there are two types of hysterectomy: total hysterectomy, in which not only the body of the uterus is removed but also the cervix; and subtotal hysterectomy, in which only the body of the uterus is removed and the cervix, which is a component of the uterus located in the vaginal area, is preserved. Since cervical cancer is a preventable and treatable disease and its onset is stage-specific, women with a cervix and those who have sex with women are recommended to be routinely screened for cervical cancer.
