This drug can act directly on intestinal smooth muscle, through the inhibition of intestinal mucosal receptors, eliminating the peristaltic reflex of the local mucosa and weakening intestinal peristalsis, and at the same time, it can increase the intestinal segmental contraction, so that the intestinal content passes through the retardation, which is conducive to the re-absorption of intestinal fluids, and it has the effect of antidiarrheal. It is suitable for acute and chronic functional diarrhea and chronic enteritis.
Adverse reactions are rare, after taking the drug occasionally see dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, depression, irritability, insomnia, rash, abdominal distension and intestinal obstruction, etc., after reducing the dosage or discontinuing the drug disappeared.
