Folliculitis belongs to the category of boils in traditional Chinese medicine. Longdian Diarrhea Liver Pill is not generally used for the treatment of boils, but can be used as prescribed by the doctor if the patient is experiencing related symptoms at the same time.
Boils are caused by internal dampness and fire, and external wind, which obstructs the skin; or they are caused by summer dampness and heat toxicity. The treatment should be clearing heat and removing toxins, and at the same time clearing summer dampness and removing dampness. Commonly used prescriptions include Wu Wei Sterilizing Drink, Xian Fang Lifesaving Drink and so on.
The efficacy of Longdian Diarrhea Pill is to benefit dampness-heat and clear the liver and gallbladder. It is used in treating eye redness and dizziness, ear pain, deafness and tinnitus caused by dampness-heat of liver and gallbladder, and dystocia and bitterness of mouth (pain in the area of dystocia and ribcage, and bitterness in the mouth). Therefore, this product is not usually used directly for the treatment of boils. However, if a patient sees both of the above symptoms, he/she can take Gentian Diarrhea Liver Pill as prescribed by the doctor.
Adverse effects of Gentian Diarrhea Liver Pill are not clear. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to the product, and should be used with caution in pregnant women and those with loose stools. If the patient is not feeling well, it is recommended to consult a doctor, who should guide the standardized use of medication, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
