Excessive weight loss is harmful

What kind of harm can weight loss cause? This is not an alarming story, but it does happen to us all the time. The media once reported that a 21-year-old girl suffered from stomach cancer, which sounds unbelievable, but the culprit was repeated weight loss. At one time, she only ate bananas and even drank plain water, and finally lost weight, but she was always in a state of hunger and would overeat every now and then, falling into a vicious cycle of dieting-binge eating, and after a period of time, her stomach finally protested. Yuan Xiaojuan, a 34-year-old gourmet who died of stomach cancer a few years ago, also summarized the reasons for her damaged body: “I did not treat my stomach well, eating extremely irregularly, often hungry and full, and often dieting to lose weight, so repeatedly tossed, the stomach has become the weakest organ in the body.” Dieting makes only a little bit of food reach the stomach, the stomach’s ability to function and tolerance will gradually decline, and at the same time, the stomach has to endure the torture of soaking in excess stomach acid, long-term, the probability of gastric disease greatly increased. The American Center for Cancer Research conducted a questionnaire survey of more than 100 overweight healthy women, 3/4 of whom had lost weight repeatedly, more than 4.5 kg each time. In testing their natural killer cells, it was found that those who regained the most weight (more than 5 times) had the lowest number of natural killer cells, while those who maintained a constant weight for several years had the highest number of these cells. The natural killer cells are the best weapon against tumor in human body, losing weight to reduce the number of seven, the possibility of developing tumor will be greatly increased. Hong Kong artist Yuen Kit Ying once suffered from anorexia due to weight loss. She did not feel anything even if she did not eat for several days and her weight once reached 31 kg. Dr. Jue Chen of the Shanghai Mental Health Center conducted a special study on 54 cases of anorexia nervosa patients and found that 88.9% of the patients with anorexia nervosa were women, and 77.8% of the triggers were “fear of being fat”, ranking first. Anorexia nervosa patients have a variety of ways to lose weight, the more concentrated are avoidance of fattening foods, excessive exercise and vomiting. The scary thing is that once you have anorexia nervosa, it is very difficult to cure yourself. Young women who lose weight excessively and blindly are prone to osteoporosis in the future. Vegetables and fruits in general contain little calcium and almost no fat, which can lead to a decrease in estrogen in the body, affecting the combination of calcium and bone, making it easy to develop osteoporosis. A study in the United States found that after 18 months of dieting, women lost 7 pounds, but their bone density also decreased. Moreover, vegetarians are more likely to develop iron deficiency anemia. Although plant-based foods can also be supplemented with iron, the absorption rate is far worse than the heme iron in animal blood and red meat. The best food structure for weight loss is to have carbohydrates as the main energy source, accounting for 40%-50% of total calories, with reduced fat intake and adequate protein. If the food structure is not right, or calorie intake is reduced, it may lead to malnutrition, anemia, hypoproteinemia, etc., which manifests as weakness and weakness, dizziness, palpitations, drowsiness, slow reaction, memory loss, and in severe cases, can cause syncope and even affect breathing and heartbeat. For women, one of the most important things in their life is to have children. If you lose too much weight and have too little body fat, it will cause endocrine disorders, which can lead to irregular menstruation and even menopause. So the majority of women friends, for your health, do not lose weight excessively. A healthy woman is the most beautiful.
