Is there a first-line drug for alcoholic liver?

There is no such thing as a first-line drug for alcoholic liver; treatment is mainly alcohol cessation, nutritional support, medication, and liver transplantation. Drugs include polyene phosphatidylcholine, metadoxine and so on.
1. Alcohol cessation: alcohol cessation is the key to treating alcoholic liver, after some patients quit drinking, alcoholic fatty liver can stop progressing and eventually return to normal.
2. Nutritional support: long-term alcoholics are often malnourished, so they should have high-calorie, high-protein, low-fat diet based on alcohol cessation, and supplement multivitamins.
3. Drug therapy: polyene phosphatidylcholine can reduce hepatocellular steatosis and its accompanying inflammation and fibrosis; Metadoxine can help improve alcoholism.
4. Liver transplantation: Liver transplantation can be considered for patients with severe fatty liver disease.
Patients with alcoholic liver disease should go to the hospital for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. Medications should be used under the guidance of a medical professional and should not be used arbitrarily on one’s own.
