The Foot Sanli point is located on the outer side of the lower leg, three inches below the eye of the outer knee and one transverse finger outside the front edge of the tibia.
The Foot Sanli point, also known as Lower Sanli, Lower Lings, and Ghost Evil, is one of the main points of the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian in Chinese medicine. You can sit down and bend your knees, take the point three inches straight down from the eye of the outer knee, one horizontal finger from the front edge of the tibia, or you can feel down from the middle of the knee and take the tibia roughly, and one inch straight down from the lower edge of the tibia roughly, this is the point.
Foot Sanli point has the function of tonifying the middle Jiao and benefiting the qi (treating qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen), strengthening the spleen and harmonizing the stomach, and promoting blood circulation through the meridians. Acupuncture of the Foot Sanli point, or moxa cones or moxibustion, can be used to treat a variety of conditions such as stomach pain, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, dysentery, constipation, carbuncle (a suppurative disease in which the breasts are red, swollen, and painful, and the milk is not discharged properly, and which ultimately results in a suppurative condition), and deficiency labor.
Note that acupuncture must be operated under the guidance of a professional acupuncturist to identify the evidence, and must not be operated blindly on its own to avoid injury.
