Functions of Lead Coat

The function of the lead jacket is mainly to shield the rays, which enables the patient to reduce the damage of the rays to the body when doing the radiological examination. Lead is mainly used to block the radiation of gamma, X and other rays. When patients are doing body checkups, they are able to shield and attenuate the radiation of rays through the lead jacket. Although it is not harmful to the body to do one or two occasional ray scanning checkups, since the cells in each part of each person have different degrees of response to different rays, the non-checked parts can be shielded and protected by the use of lead jackets when performing radiological checkups, such as the male gonads and thymus glands. Patients should be under the supervision of a doctor or relevant professional when undergoing radiological examinations.
