Red, swollen and painful nose may be caused by folliculitis, nasal boil, nasal vestibulitis, etc., and need to take medication and surgical treatment for the cause of the disease.
1. Folliculitis: If there is folliculitis in the nose area, there will be red, swollen and painful symptoms. If the folliculitis is caused by bacterial infection, you can apply antibiotic ointment as prescribed by the doctor, such as compound polymyxin B ointment, neomycin ointment, etc., and part of the patients also need to follow the doctor’s advice to take oral antibiotics such as cefuroxime, cefadroxil, and so on.
2. Nasal boils: For nose boils that cause redness, swelling and pain in the nose, you need to keep the area clean. If the boil is immature, you can apply antibiotic ointment such as fusidic acid ointment and gentamycin ointment to the area. For mature boils, wait for the boil to burst on its own or use a small sterile probe to puncture the pus head and suction the pus out.
If the boil has already burst, it should be sterilized with iodophor or alcohol, or antibiotic ointment such as ofloxacin ointment or clindamycin phosphate gel should be applied as prescribed by the doctor.
3. Nasal vestibulitis: If nasal vestibulitis causes the patient’s nose to be red, swollen and painful, you can follow the doctor’s instructions to use 3% hydrogen peroxide solution or warm saline applied to the nasal cavity, and then erythromycin ointment, mupirocin ointment and other antibiotic ointment coated in the vestibule of the affected area.
