The white discharge that comes out of the vagina after pregnancy is leukorrhea, a sticky white clear fluid containing cells shed from the vaginal epithelium, white blood cells, and lactobacilli. In the early stage of pregnancy, due to the change of hormone level in the body, the increase of estrogen and progesterone leads to the increase of leucorrhea. If the leukorrhea does not have an odor and there is no itching or discomfort in the vulva, there is no need to worry. If the amount of leucorrhea increases significantly, the color is abnormal, there is an odor, accompanied by vulvar itching, pain, or even painful urination, you may suffer from vaginitis during pregnancy. It is better to go to the hospital for routine leukorrhea examination and vaginal medication treatment if necessary, otherwise it may easily lead to complications such as premature rupture of fetal membranes, preterm delivery, low birth weight baby and puerperal infection. After pregnancy, vaginal secretions increase, coupled with the decrease in immunity, it is easy to develop vaginitis without paying attention to hygiene. Wash your vulva every night and change your underwear regularly, preferably with cotton and breathable underwear.
