How long traction is required for a left intertrochanteric femur fracture

Left intertrochanteric femur fracture needs traction for 1~2 weeks as preoperative temporary immobilization treatment, or traction for 8~12 weeks as long-term immobilization treatment.
1. Temporary fixation: Left intertrochanteric fracture belongs to the more common type of hip fracture, if the swelling of the affected limb is more obvious after the fracture or the patient is combined with other basic diseases, the patient can be put into traction of tibial tuberosity as temporary fixation treatment, and only after the patient meets the requirements of surgery can the patient be operated, and the traction of temporary fixation treatment generally needs to be carried out for 1~2 weeks.
2. Long-term immobilization: If the patient has obvious contraindications to surgery and needs long-term immobilization of the fracture by traction treatment, it usually takes 8~12 weeks for the fracture to heal. Elderly patients are very prone to bed-ridden complications during long-term immobilization, so it is less commonly used at present.
In case of intertrochanteric femur fracture, it is recommended to consult a regular hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
