How to Test for Strabismus

Strabismus can be tested by binocular vision function test, refraction test and eye movement test.
1. Binocular vision function test: If both eyes cannot focus on the same target, and one eye focuses on the target while the other eye deviates from the target, strabismus may be present. Also, it can be checked by alternately covering the eyes.
2. Refractive examination: Dilated optometry with atropine to paralyze the ciliary muscle to find out if there is amblyopia, strabismus and refraction in the eyes.
3. Eye movement examination: The function of the extraocular muscles can be determined to see if the eye movement is in place normally. The patient needs to cooperate with the doctor to look at the six main directions of movement, and the doctor will observe the deviation of the eyeball movement to determine whether the function of each extraocular muscle is abnormal.
When strabismus occurs, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for timely examination and actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment.
