How to treat a hallux valgus

Bunions can be treated in the following ways: First, for mild and early bunion patients, conservative treatment can be used by adding cotton pads between the first toe and second toe at night to correct the bunion deformity, or orthopedic shoe covers can be worn to correct the bunion. Second, for more serious bunion patients, surgical treatment needs to be considered. The bunion deformity can be corrected by cutting off the internal bunion muscle, overlapping sutures to the medial joint capsule, and can be treated with a toe wedge osteotomy. However, the first metatarsophalangeal joint should always be kept stable during the procedure, otherwise it may cause postoperative semi-dislocation or complete dislocation of the first metatarsophalangeal joint, resulting in surgical failure.
