Does high total cholesterol mean high blood lipids?

Elevated cholesterol is a sign of high blood lipids, i.e. high total cholesterol is high blood lipids. Cholesterol is one of the indicators of blood lipids, which often includes total cholesterol, triglycerides, apolipoproteins, HDL and LDL in clinical lipid tests. Before the test, it is necessary to pay attention to fasting for more than 12 hours, drinking water, prohibiting alcohol and high-fat food, not overeating, not taking certain drugs, and not staying up late to avoid affecting the test results. If the patient’s test result is high total cholesterol, don’t be careless, because high blood cholesterol, like high blood sugar and high blood pressure, is a chronic health hazard. If not taken seriously, it can cause cardiovascular diseases, leading to atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease and stroke, and in serious cases, directly endangering life. The treatment of hyperlipidemia is mainly based on life intervention and medication. Avoid greasy and high-fat diet, eat more fruits and vegetables, drink more water, actively participate in physical activities, control body fat rate and develop healthy living habits. At the same time with taking statin lipid-lowering drugs, liver function is strictly tested during the medication period, because the drug will have the side effect of elevated liver transenzyme, and patients with active liver disease need to be prohibited.
