What’s wrong with a slightly low platelet count of 123.0?

The normal range for platelet count is (100 to 300) x 10^9/L, so platelets 123 x 10^9/L are normal. Platelets less than 100×10^9/L is called thrombocytopenia, which is usually seen in the following conditions.
1. Reduced platelet production: mostly seen in hematologic diseases, such as aplastic anemia, acute leukemia and megaloblastic anemia, etc. It is also seen in radiation injury, etc.
2. Increased platelet destruction or consumption: mostly seen in immune thrombocytopenia, systemic lupus erythematosus and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
3. Abnormal platelet distribution: such as seen in patients with liver cirrhosis, splenomegaly, or input of large amounts of stored blood resulting in blood dilution.
If the platelets are lower than 100×10^9/L, it is necessary to actively review, and it is recommended to go to the hospital for further examination.
