Severity grading

Clinical features

Grade I

Asymptomatic, seen only on clinical examination or diagnosis, no treatment required.

Grade II

Symptomatic; interferes with activities of daily living; thyroid hormone replacement therapy.

Grade III

Severe; interferes with activities of daily living; requires hospitalization.

Grade IV

Life-threatening, requiring urgent treatment.

Grade V

Death
