Anxiety disorder is one of the important causes and manifestations of mental illness in the elderly. We often see that some elderly people are distracted, restless, some of them are worried about a small thing, nervous and fearful. This phenomenon is called anxiety in psychology, and in serious cases, it is called anxiety disorder. Anxiety is a nervous and fearful emotional state formed by individuals who cannot reach their goals or overcome the threat of obstacles, resulting in a setback in self-esteem or self-confidence, or an increased sense of failure or guilt. Generally speaking, anxiety can be divided into three main categories: First, realistic or objective anxiety. If the grandfather is eager for his beloved grandson to enter college, the grandson is currently intensifying the revision of homework, before the examination grandfather seems very anxious and irritable. Second, neurotic anxiety. That is, anxious reactions occur not only to particular things or situations, but also to any situation that may occur. It is caused by psycho-social factors induced by anxiety, frustration, sense of failure and serious damage to self-esteem. Third, moral anxiety. It is the emotional reaction caused by the guilt caused by the conflict between social requirements and self-expression due to the violation of social moral standards. Some elderly people are afraid of being condemned by their conscience because their behavior does not meet the self-ideal standards. For example, if they were considered to be a person of high moral standing by the people around them, but when they saw the thugs mobbing the conductor on the tram, they deliberately turned a blind eye to them for fear of being hurt because they were alone, and when they came back, they felt that they had done something dishonorable and were deeply guilty, and then they were restless and kept blaming themselves. If the anxiety psychology reaches a more serious degree, it becomes an anxiety disorder, also known as anxiety neurosis. Anxiety disorder is a neurological disorder characterized by anxiety as the central symptom, in the form of acute attacks or chronic persistent state, and accompanied by disorders of plant nerve function. Geriatric anxiety disorder has characteristics that are not found in general anxiety disorders. And people often ignore this psychological disorder and attribute the cause to some organic disease, such as heart disease or diabetes.
