Shoulder pain corresponds to paralysis in traditional Chinese medicine, which can be divided into walking paralysis, pain paralysis, catching paralysis, heat paralysis (often manifested as burning, pain, redness and swelling of joints and muscles), etc. According to the type of the evidence to choose different medicines, such as Xuanpai Dajing Tang, Wutou Tang, Coix Seed Soup and so on. 1. Paralysis: joints of the limbs, pain in the upper limbs, cold pain, muscle aches and pains, the left and right joints are wandering, and there is also a slight heat and pain, and there is also wind and cold. The treatment is to dispel wind and collaterals, dispersing cold and removing dampness, using Xuanpai Da Jing Tang. The precautions are not clear. 2. Pain paralysis: severe pain in the joints of the limbs, even the joints cannot be flexed or extended, the pain is fixed or wandering, the pain is worse when it is cold, but it will be reduced when it is hot, the skin color is not red, and it is not hot when it is touched. The treatment should be warming the menstruation and dispersing cold, dispelling wind and removing dampness, and the formula is Wu Tou Tang. Contraindications are not clear. 3. Paralysis: there may be swelling, pain in a fixed place, numbness of the skin, pain in the joints of the limbs, soreness, heaviness of the hands and feet, and inconvenience in movement. The treatment should remove dampness, dispel wind and cold, and the formula should be Coix Seed Soup plus subtractions. Adverse reactions are not clear. 4. Heat paralysis: pain in joints of limbs, intense swelling and pain, relief from cold, cramping of tendons and veins (spasm and convulsion of the body due to wind-cold sensation), redness and burning heat in the painful area, lightness of the day and heaviness of the night, mostly accompanied by fever, thirst, boredom and restlessness. The treatment is to clear away heat, remove wind and dampness, and the formula is Bai Hu Plus Gui Zhi Tang. Chinese medicines or proprietary Chinese medicines need to be used under the guidance of a Chinese doctor, and individuals should not use them blindly to avoid adverse consequences.
