What are the treatment options for urinary tract infections?

Urinary tract infection is one of the common diseases of the urinary system, which seriously affects people’s health. Urinary tract infections are what we usually call urinary tract infections, which can be divided into upper urinary tract infections and lower urinary tract infections. Upper urinary tract infections are commonly known as acute pyelonephritis; lower urinary tract infections are commonly known as acute cystitis. The common causes of urinary tract infections are bacterial infections, and the common causative organisms are Escherichia coli, Aspergillus, Bacillus aerogenes, and Klebsiella, among others. There are clinical differences in the treatment of upper urinary tract infections and lower urinary tract infections. Treatment of acute pyelonephritis includes systemic supportive therapy and antimicrobial therapy. Systemic supportive therapy includes bed rest, adequate nutrition, fluid supplementation, maintaining the homeostasis of the internal environment, and maintaining sufficient urine volume to facilitate the excretion of toxins from the body; antimicrobial therapy, through urine sediment smear staining, urine bacterial culture and antibiotic sensitivity test, select sensitive antibiotics for treatment. Commonly used antibiotics include cephalosporins, broad-spectrum penicillins, aminoglycoside antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, etc. Treatment of acute cystitis Treatment of acute cystitis requires drinking more water, avoiding irritating foods, and hot water sitz baths can improve blood circulation in the perineum and reduce symptoms. The use of alkaline drugs such as sodium bicarbonate and potassium citrate can reduce the acidity of the urine and relieve bladder spasm. Depending on the causative organism, select sensitive antibiotics for treatment in the same way as for acute pyelonephritis. The treatment of urinary tract infection is valuable in daily prevention. Paying attention to personal hygiene, drinking more water and urinating more often can reduce the formation of urinary tract infection.
