Patients with one eye high and one eye low are often seen with vertical strabismus and ptosis, which can be treated with corrective surgery to improve the appearance.
1. Vertical strabismus: The direction of vision of both eyes in patients with vertical strabismus is not parallel, and when one eye is looking straight ahead, the other eye’s vision will be skewed upward or downward, which may cause discomfort such as double vision and seriously affect the appearance, so patients can be treated with strabismus corrective surgery to improve their appearance.
2. Ptosis: When a patient has ptosis in one eye, the upper eyelid will be lowered, resulting in an inconsistency between the heights of the two eyes. The patient can be treated with ptosis corrective surgery, such as levator palpebralis muscle shortening or frontalis muscle suspension, to improve the appearance of the eye.
It is recommended that patients with one eye high and the other low be seen promptly for evaluation of their condition and treatment as prescribed by their physician.
