As the disease progresses, if the pain gradually decreases but a hard nodule or pustule appears, this indicates that a local abscess has formed. After this stage, conventional conservative treatment methods, including hot compresses, antibiotic eye drops or eye ointment, are not very effective, and early surgery to drain the abscess is generally recommended at this stage. This is a very small outpatient surgery in ophthalmology, and there is no need to worry too much. A neat surgical incision is made from the skin surface or conjunctival surface, and the pus cavity is opened and all the pus is removed, including the cyst wall, so that the disease can recover quickly. After the surgery, it is still necessary to keep the eye clean and continue to use eye drops for a period of time to control the local inflammation, which usually returns to normal after a week.
