What is the pain in the lower chest bone?

Pain in the lower thoracic bones usually refers to the position of the rib arch or the 11th and 12th ribs, for the following reasons: First, there may be bone contusions or fractures in these two bones after trauma, or the soft tissues around the fractures may be stimulated and the pain may be felt when breathing heavily or coughing. When breathing heavily or coughing, the pain will be significantly increased. Secondly, the pain may be caused by overexertion of the surrounding muscles, tendons, ligaments and bursae, or by inflammatory lesions caused by cold, which may stimulate the peripheral nerves and cause pain. Thirdly, there is a fat pad at the tip of the 11th and 12th ribs, which is mainly formed to cushion the tip of the ribs from muscle tissue stimulation. When over-stimulated and cold, bursitis can easily occur, which can also lead to pain in the lower chest bones.
