How to increase breast milk production

The main stimulus for milk production is the sucking of the nipple and areola by the baby. This sucking causes the release of hormones in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, including oxytocin and prolactin. Prolactin acts on the lactating cells and causes them to produce a large amount of milk. There is also the fact that after the milk is produced, it must be continuously emptied, because too much milk accumulated in the breasts will have the effect of returning the milk. Therefore, the main way to increase the secretion of milk is to prolong the time that the baby sucks at the breast and increase the number of times the baby feeds. The milk that the baby cannot eat is also emptied as much as possible by means of manual massage, so that with negative feedback, the milk production can be increased.
