When expired eye drops are applied, no special treatment can be given if there are no obvious symptoms of discomfort. If redness and pain in the eyes occur, the eyes should be flushed with plenty of water immediately to reduce the damage caused by the expired drops to the eyes. If after rinsing the eyes the patient still has foreign body sensation, eye redness, pain and other discomfort, further detailed examination should be conducted at a regular eye care facility to determine if there is a burn on the conjunctiva and cornea. If the cornea is not burned, but only the eye is congested, you can apply pralofene eye drops, 1 drop 4 times a day, and levofloxacin eye drops, 1 drop 4 times a day, for treatment. If damage to the corneal epithelium is present, apply antibiotic eye drops along with recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor eye drops, 1 drop 4 times daily, to promote corneal epithelial repair.
