Misdiagnosis, an unbearable burden for patients.

Misdiagnosis is an unavoidable problem in medical activities. Even the most prestigious hospitals and the most authoritative doctors can make diagnostic errors. We face up to the existence of misdiagnosis and allow misdiagnosis to occur under certain circumstances, not to condone it, nor is this a reason why we can misdiagnose. When patients come to the hospital, they entrust their lives to the hospital, and as an angel in white, a 1% negligence or misdiagnosis means that the patient has to bear 100% of the consequences and pain. The Chinese Society of Hospital Management has done a survey on the causes of misdiagnosis, the main reasons for misdiagnosis are four points: First, the doctor’s inexperience, new doctors do not know the old disease. Second, doctors are not meticulous in consultation and examination. Third, doctors rely excessively or superstitiously on the results of auxiliary tests. Fourth, doctors did not choose specific examination items, etc. A careful analysis of these four causes reveals that doctors’ experience, responsibility and service spirit are the main reasons for misdiagnosis, which is also the key to doctor-patient disputes. For the problem of misdiagnosis, Wu Jieping, a medical titan, believes that although the causes of misdiagnosis are complex, the key is still in the doctor, because the doctor is the main body of knowledge. For doctors, first of all, they should have a high sense of responsibility and compassion; secondly, they should apply their existing knowledge, apply the knowledge they have learned to medical practice appropriately, and then think deeply. Although the doctor’s knowledge is important, but only knowledge is not. The difference between medicine and other disciplines is its practicality, only through in-depth practice can we have our own experience, and practice is the first. The medical field is a “place of life and death” involving the people, as the health of the white angel, life is entrusted, not only to have excellent medical skills, but also to have a noble medical ethics. In the practice of saving lives and helping the injured, we must abide by professional ethics and must do our duty. Only in this way is it possible to avoid the occurrence of any inexcusable misdiagnosis and mistreatment. Because, for misdiagnosis, the patient is indeed unbearable.
