Testicular cancer symptoms are mostly painless lumps

Breast is the prominent secondary sexual characteristic of women and testicle is the most prominent secondary sexual characteristic of men. And the main symptoms of testicular cancer, like breast cancer, are mainly painless lumps, which can be detected early through self-examination. If the tumor has not yet metastasized, the chance of cure can reach 95%. Being in a higher body temperature for a long time is harmful to the testicles 25-year-old Xiao Li just got married this year. Half a month ago he unintentionally felt a 1cm-sized lump in his left testicle in the shower, with a hard texture and no pressure pain. What is this thing? Xiao Li went to the urology department with anxiety. After careful palpation, the doctor felt a 1×2cm hard mass with unclear borders in Xiao Li’s left testicle. The result of the examination confirmed Xiao Li’s fears – left testicular cancer, and the doctor immediately arranged for surgery. Isn’t cancer highly prevalent among the elderly? Why would a young man get testicular cancer? According to experts, testicular tumor can occur in patients of any age, but it is mostly born in men aged 15 to 39. Testes are the two male gonads, they are responsible for making and storing sperm, as well as being the main source of male androgens. Testicular cancer is a malignant tumor formed by cellular carcinoma of the testes. It accounts for only 1% of all male carcinoid tumors, but occurs mostly in men aged 15-39 years, and is the most common malignant tumor in men aged 20-34 years, the peak reproductive years. Like other malignant tumors, the factors leading to testicular cancer are very complex, but the most dangerous of them is cryptorchidism. Cryptorchidism is formed when a male’s testicles fail to descend into the scrotum at birth and are retained in the abdominal cavity. Even with surgical treatment, the chance of malignancy is still 20 times higher than normal; if it is never removed, the chance of malignancy can be more than 50%. This fact shows that prolonged exposure to higher body temperatures can be harmful to the testicles. All men should check their testicles by themselves once a month After removing the diseased testicles, can they still have children? “Most patients with testicular cancer can retain their fertility after treatment.” Experts explain, “For the treatment of testicular cancer, surgical removal is preferred, and then supplemented with radiotherapy and chemotherapy according to the situation. Most testicular cancer patients can retain their fertility after timely treatment. Testicular cancer is usually solitary and rarely occurs bilaterally at the same time, so the healing process is better. Apart from healthy lifestyle habits, the most important thing to prevent testicular cancer is early detection of testicular abnormalities for early diagnosis and timely treatment. Generally speaking, it takes an average of 3 months from the occurrence of testicular cancer to the lymph node metastasis of the tumor. Meanwhile, it is recommended that every young man should establish a healthy lifestyle concept, such as proper intake of dairy products, quit smoking, reduce alcohol consumption and exercise properly to reduce the risk of testicular cancer. The early clinical symptoms of testicular cancer, like breast cancer, are mainly painless lumps, which can be detected early by means of self-examination. Therefore, it is necessary for all men, especially those aged 15 to 39, to check their scrotum and testicles by themselves once a month. Once a lump or any abnormality is found in the scrotum, they should be alert and go to the urology department in time. Testicular self-examination method The best time for self-examination is after bathing, this is because any local tension will make the scrotum contract and affect the examination, after bathing the scrotal skin is relaxed, the examination is easier and more accurate. Specific technique: take a standing position. Make the scrotum droop naturally and hold it up with the palm of your hand to observe and appreciate its size and weight. Gently squeeze the testicle with both hands, placing the thumb above the testicle and the index and middle fingers below. Gently turn the testicle with the index finger and thumb to check its size, whether the surface is smooth, whether there are hard lumps, and to note any difference between the left and right testicles. If there is an abnormal pea or pigeon egg sized lump without pain, you should be alert and seek early specialist examination by a urologist. Early signs of testicular cancer The testicles are located in the scrotum and can be easily touched, so early signs of testicular cancer are easier to detect. ① Testicular enlargement. This is the result of endless multiplication and proliferation of tumor cells. The shape of the enlargement is not uniform and sometimes very irregular. The testicle is hard in texture. The testicle is hard and stone-like when touched by hand, which is significantly different from the testicle that is uniformly swollen and soft when the testicle is inflamed. Despite the hardness of the testicle, there is no pain when pressed and touched, which is also different from orchitis. ③ Testicular heaviness feeling. Since testicular tumor is formed by massive growth of tumor cells, it is a substantial lump. After growing to a certain extent, the weight of testicle increases abruptly and patients will have a heavy downward feeling, which even affects walking. If the testicle is held up by hand, it is like holding a stone and there is a certain sense of weight. ④Negative transillumination test. Generally when syringomyelia is present, the translucency of scrotum and testis is enhanced and the transillumination test is positive. In contrast, testicular tumor grows dense and solid, and there is no liquid inside, so the translucency is greatly weakened.
