Mortality rate of brain hemorrhage in car accidents

Car accident cerebral hemorrhage has a mortality rate of about 10% in 10,000 cars in China. The main reason why car accident brain hemorrhage can be fatal is that the car accident causes a lot of damage to the head. Because after a violent car accident, it will cause intracranial hemorrhage, and when the amount of intracranial hemorrhage is relatively large, it will cause acute intracranial pressure increase, and acute intracranial pressure increase will cause the patient to have brain herniation, which is a very critical complication in neurosurgery and can cause death in serious cases. Therefore, patients with cerebral hemorrhage in a car accident should be sent to the hospital early for treatment. By CT imaging of the head, early cranial decompression therapy is required if the indication for surgery is reached. Only if the patient’s intracranial pressure is controlled to normal, there is some hope for the patient’s prognosis. If the intracranial pressure continues to be higher than 40 mmHg after aggressive surgery, the patient’s mortality rate is close to 100%. Therefore, patients who have been in a car accident need to be given a high priority and seek early medical attention.
