Dry and itchy ears are most commonly seen clinically as mycosis fungoides, which is most commonly associated with humidity, excessive sweating, and frequent water ingress in the ears, where mycotic infections occur. The solution to this is to first keep the external ear canal dry, and also to use boric acid ear drops daily to inhibit fungal infections. The itchy ears are also associated with allergic symptoms or eczema-like changes, which can be treated with oral anti-allergy medications and topical hormonal creams. There are also some cases of itching due to repeated digging of the ears, which leads to irritation of the sensory nerves in the outer ear canal.
