The baby in the belly can move its limbs in the third month of pregnancy, but the pregnant woman herself cannot feel the fetal movement. In the fourth month of pregnancy, some pregnant women can feel fetal movement. In the fifth month of pregnancy, fetal movement is obvious. Pregnant women can feel their fetus moving and the duration of fetal movement increases. Fetal movements are active during the eighth to eighth-and-a-half months of pregnancy, and decrease during the ninth-and-a-half months of pregnancy, but remain within normal limits. Weekly ultrasounds are performed to determine if the placental amniotic fluid index is normal.
