The diagnosis can be made after swallowing a date nucleus by mistake with pain in the throat, repeated spitting, and interruption of the barium meal examination of the esophagus when the date nucleus is blocked, and if necessary, CT examination of the chest is performed to support the diagnosis. Once the date nucleus is stuck in the esophagus, it should be operated under local or general anesthesia, and removed under esophagoscopy with foreign body forceps. The location of the date nucleus in the esophagus should be determined before surgery, and if it is located at the aortic arch, extra care should be taken when removing it to avoid injury and hemorrhage. Postoperative fasting is still required, and iodine oil imaging is given the next day to determine the absence of perforation and then a liquid diet is considered.
