Specialized medications for ankylosing spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis does not exist special drugs nor special effect drugs, the disease treatment commonly used types of drugs including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-rheumatic drugs and glucocorticoid drugs.
1. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): NSAIDs such as diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, etc. can be used for ankylosing spondylitis because of their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, which can lead to symptoms such as joint pain, morning stiffness, and low back pain, but these drugs cannot control the progression of the disease.
2. Anti-rheumatic drugs: Anti-rheumatic drugs include biosynthetic anti-rheumatic drugs and traditional synthetic anti-rheumatic drugs. Biosynthetic anti-rheumatic drugs include adalimumab, infliximab, etc., which can inhibit bone destruction and alleviate symptoms; traditional synthetic anti-rheumatic drugs include leflunomide, salazosulfapyridine, etc., which can improve the symptoms of patients and inhibit immunity.
3. Glucocorticoid drugs: Glucocorticoid drugs such as dexamethasone and prednisone acetate are used relatively little in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. They are mainly used to treat musculoskeletal inflammation, but long-term use of these drugs is not recommended, and patients need to be monitored for infections.
Drugs should be used under the guidance of a physician, and it is recommended that patients diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis go to the rheumatology and immunology department of a regular hospital for consultation, rather than taking medication on their own.
