Su Zi Shi Wei Qi Tang is from “Tai Ping Hui Min He Diao Bian Fang”, which is a qi regulator. It is used for the treatment of asthma and cough, phlegm and saliva congestion (abnormal phlegm, excessive production of saliva), chest and diaphragm fullness, wheezing and coughing, shortness of breath, excessive exhalation and inhalation, or waist pain and weak feet, tiredness of the limbs, or swelling of the limbs, with a white or greasy tongue coating and a slippery pulse.
Adverse effects and contraindications of Su Zi Descending Qi Tang are not clear. It should be noted that this formula is warm and dry in nature, focusing on lowering qi and expelling phlegm, and should not be used in cases of wheezing and coughing with deficiency of lung and kidney yin as well as lung-heat phlegm asthma.
