Azithromycin dosage

The pharmaceutical dosage forms of azithromycin include: azithromycin dry suspension, azithromycin capsules, azithromycin tablets, and azithromycin for injection. The recommended dosage of azithromycin oral medications such as dry suspension, capsules and tablets is consistent, while the recommended dosage of azithromycin for injection is different. It is not possible to summarize them briefly, as follows.
Azithromycin oral drug in the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases in adults with Chlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae, 1.0 g each time; in other infections in adults, 0.5 g on the first day, 0.25 g on 2 to 5 days or 0.5 g for 3 days; in pediatric otitis media and pneumonia 10 mg/kg on the first day, up to 0.5 g, and 5 mg/kg on 2 to 5 days, up to 0.25 g; in pediatric pharyngitis and tonsillitis daily 12mg/kg, up to 0.5g for 5 days.
Azithromycin for Injection 500 mg once daily for at least 2 days in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia. 2 days later use Azithromycin Oral 500 mg once daily for a total duration of 7 to 10 days; 500 mg once daily in the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease, 1 to 2 days later use Azithromycin Oral 250 mg administered once daily for a total duration of 7 days.
All of the above are recommended dosage, due to each person’s situation is different, the specific dosage should follow the doctor’s advice.
Additionally, adverse reactions such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash may occur with the use of this drug and should be noted. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, other macrolides or ketolactones. Contraindicated in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic insufficiency following previous use of azithromycin.
