Getting out of bed is generally not recommended after artificial water breaking. Artificial water breaking, i.e. artificial rupture of membranes, is a method of rupturing the amniotic membrane through human intervention, which is routinely performed during labor, and is applicable to situations such as strengthening contractions or determining the nature of amniotic fluid after labor is imminent. Usually there is amniotic fluid coming out of the vagina after rupture of membranes, especially when the fetal head is not fully articulated, there is more amniotic fluid coming out, getting out of bed will increase the risk of umbilical cord prolapse, so it is not recommended to get out of bed and walk around. Artificial rupture of membranes is usually carried out during the period between contractions. Before rupture of membranes, we should check whether the umbilical cord is exposed, and after rupture of membranes, we should also pay attention to whether there is prolapse of the umbilical cord, and observe the amount of amniotic fluid, the nature of amniotic fluid and changes in the fetal heart. Artificial rupture of membranes after the opening of the uterus can guide the mother to labor. If the contractions do not improve after rupture of membranes due to lack of contraction, it is necessary to follow the doctor’s instructions to give hysterotonin to strengthen the contractions in order to promote the progress of labor.
