Where exactly is the stomach located?

The specific location of the stomach is in the epigastrium.
The stomach is connected to the esophagus above and the duodenum below. Most of the stomach is under the left upper abdominal xiphoid process, and a small portion is in the middle of the epigastrium, where the anterior wall of the stomach can be directly touched, which is the normal anatomical position.
The anterior wall of the stomach is adjacent to the liver on the right side and to the spleen on the left side, and the posterior wall of the stomach is adjacent to the pancreas, the transverse colon, the left kidney and the left adrenal gland.
The exact location of the stomach is normally related to the shape of the person, the degree of filling of the stomach and small intestine, and the tension of the stomach wall.
If the body is relatively thin, the stomach may sag below the navel, and if the body is obese, the stomach is positioned relatively high. If full it may extend to the right side. The exact position of the stomach is also somewhat inclined when lying on the left side versus the right side.
