Can colchicine tablets lower uric acid

Colchicine tablets cannot lower uric acid. Colchicine tablets are anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs that can relieve pain during acute gout attacks. The main mechanism of action is to inhibit leukocyte chemotaxis and rapidly reduce inflammation in the joints, but it does not reduce the efficacy of blood uric acid, and is not a uric acid-lowering drug. There are two main categories of clinically used uric acid-lowering drugs: one is allopurinol and febuxostat, which inhibit uric acid production; the other is benzbromarone, which promotes uric acid excretion. Patients with elevated blood uric acid also need a low purine diet.
