211 How many rabies shots produce antibodies?

Rabies vaccination with the 211 regimen usually produces antibodies after the second dose. Currently, there are two vaccination programs for rabies vaccine: 211 therapy and 5-shot therapy.

1. 211 therapy: This therapy requires three injections, two injections on day 0, one in the deltoid muscle on each side, and the second and third injections on day 7 and day 21 or 28.

2. Five-shot therapy: A total of five shots are given on days 0, 3, 7, 14, and 28 after exposure to the rabies virus.

After rabies vaccination, the production of antibodies, that is, IgM antibodies, usually starts on the 7th day, followed by IgG antibodies on the 14th day, when the antibodies reach their peak.

In addition, since there is no cure for rabies, it is recommended that patients be actively vaccinated against rabies in the event of rabies virus exposure.
