How to prevent carotid artery sclerosis

There is no specific form of prevention for carotid atherosclerosis; maintaining a good lifestyle can reduce the incidence.
This mainly includes quitting smoking and avoiding passive smoking, refraining from or limiting alcohol consumption, and actively controlling risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia and obesity.
Attention should also be paid to a scientific diet, increasing moderate intensity exercise, maintaining a good state of mind, keeping waist circumference and weight within ideal limits and following medical advice on therapeutic medication.
