I. What is varicose vein? Varicose veins are the most common disease of the venous system. The main reason for the formation of varicose veins is the accumulation of blood in the lower extremities because the same posture is maintained for a long time with few changes, which results in excessive venous pressure due to the destruction of the venous valves over time. Varicose veins mostly occur in the lower extremities, where the skin of the legs appears red or blue, like spider webs, twisted blood vessels of earthworms, or hard nodules like tree tumors, and the veins become abnormally enlarged and swollen and varicose. Second, the causes of varicose veins and susceptible people According to statistics, about 25-40% of women and 20% of men suffer from the phenomenon of varicose veins. Teachers, surgeons, nurses, hair stylists, counter salesmen, chefs, restaurant waiters and other occupations that require long hours of standing are all high risk groups. There is also a link between varicose veins and genetics, oral contraceptive use and pregnancy. Varicose veins are an irreversible phenomenon because the body does not have a mechanism to repair its own valves. Third, varicose veins may produce symptoms 1, the surface blood vessels like earthworms varicose, obviously protrude from the skin varicose in the form of masses or nodules; 2, legs have soreness and swelling, heavy at night, light in the morning skin pigmentation, dark color skin flaking, itching, ankle edema; 3, epidermal temperature increases, there is pain and pressure; 4, the limbs have a strange feeling, limb chills, limb hot flashes, affected limbs become thin The skin has pins and needles, itching, numbness, burning sensation; 5, toe (finger) nail thickening, deformation, slow growth or stop; 6, serious cases have local ulcers a raw appear, and even gangrene (folk often said “old rotten leg”). Fourth, the treatment method of varicose veins of lower limbs There are three treatment methods of varicose veins of lower limbs, including: compression therapy, varicose vein sclerotherapy and surgical treatment. So far there are no drugs that can completely cure varicose veins of lower extremities. Wearing medical compression stockings is the most effective method of compression therapy. Compression therapy uses medical compression stockings, which establish the highest support pressure at the ankle and gradually decreases up the leg. The pressure is reduced to 70%-90% of the maximum pressure in the calf, and 25%-45% of the maximum pressure in the thigh. This decreasing change in pressure allows venous blood flow back to the lower extremities, effectively relieving or improving the pressure on the veins and valves of the lower extremities. The compression stockings are best worn early in the morning before getting up and then removed at night after going to bed. Sclerotherapy A hypertonic solution (such as highly concentrated saline or a sclerosing agent) is injected into the varicose vein to disrupt the lining of the vessel, causing it to seal and then disappear. However, only small varicose veins can be treated and there may be severe pain, pigmentation, inflammation, redness, swelling, and ulceration, and it is difficult to deal with recurrence. Surgical aspiration An incision is made in the groin, the saphenous vein is ligated at a high level, and the superficial varicose veins are peeled off in a punctiform manner. Semi- or general anesthesia and hospitalization are required. Treatment is complete, but has the disadvantage of subcutaneous bruising and wound pain.
