Breast Implant Displacement

Implant displacement is a common complication of breast augmentation, which seriously affects the aesthetic effect of the breast and is one of the reasons for reoperation after breast augmentation. Prosthesis displacement is divided into downward, upward, lateral displacement and central displacement, among which downward displacement of prosthesis is the most common. There are many factors that cause the displacement of the prosthesis, such as the patient’s own conditions, the surgical method of breast augmentation, the surgical incision, the level of prosthesis placement, and the shape and surface texture of the prosthesis itself. After breast augmentation, implant displacement can be handled according to its specific situation as follows: 1. If the implant displacement is caused by fiber contracture of the envelope, the envelope needs to be removed surgically and then peeled to enlarge the cavity so that both sides of the breast are symmetrical; 2. If the implant displacement is simple, some patients can try to correct it with pressure bandage in the early postoperative period. If the prosthesis is displaced upward, the upper part of the breast can be pressurized; if the prosthesis is displaced downward, the tissue at the ligament of the inferior breast fold is pressurized; 3. If the prosthesis is still displaced 3 months after surgery, surgical correction is often required according to the location of the movement. After surgery, appropriate pressure bandages are needed to prevent the prosthesis from shifting again, and excessive lifting of the upper arm and lifting heavy objects are prohibited for 3-4 weeks after surgery.
