How long does it usually take for melasma to disappear?

The treatment time of melasma is related to the choice of treatment method and personal daily care, which cannot be generalized. Melasma is a pigmentation spot on the face, dark brown in color, with clear boundaries and roughly symmetrical distribution. Melasma is also commonly known as liver spots or stretch marks, and it occurs in women. The common treatment methods include applying topical tyrosinase inhibitor ointment on the affected area, such as 5% hydroquinone cream, which usually requires 2 months of continuous medication to have more obvious effect; while applying photorejuvenation or applying laser to treat melasma, which usually takes effect after 2-3 times of treatment, and the specific time to disappear depends on the subsequent treatment. It is important to note that melasma is prone to recurrence, so besides treatment, daily sun protection is also particularly important. Avoiding sun exposure as much as possible, using umbrella or sun hat when going out and applying sunscreen can effectively avoid its recurrence.
